The Family Solution
When we have a loved one living in active addiction, our life sometimes seems like chaos running rampant. We feel hopeless, overwhelmed, out of control, and desperate for relief for us and our loved one. However, there are some simple facts about addiction that we must keep in mind and this is a main component of our Family Services Program.
“Alcoholism isn’t caused by our family problems, our actions or inactions, what we’ve said or haven’t said, or how we appear. Alcoholics might blame their drinking on the people they love, but they drink because they have a disease. It’s as simple as that.” How Al-Anon Works for Families and Friends of Alcoholics p. 17
Goals of the Family Services Program:
- Educate the family on what their loved one is experiencing in active addiction and/or their program of sobriety
- Reduce the impact of enabling and codependency behaviors, instead acting as an advocate of recovery for all involved – not just the substance user.
- Supporting the family in setting and respecting their own boundaries while lovingly motivating their loved one to seek help
- Help the family establish independent lives separate from affected loved one
Structure of the Family Services Program:
- Weekly family sessions
- Case management
- Monitoring
- Addiction education
- Weekly goals and objectives
“We have struggled for 15+ years to find someone or some place that truly understands addiction compounded by mental illness and who offers credible perspectives and solutions. Solutions of North Texas was a Godsend and the interventionist has provided us with experienced guidance and incredible perspective. We are so grateful to have met her and SoNTX. Our lives, and hopefully that of our adult son, have been forever changed for the better as a result.”~ Jim

Failure to Launch
Failure to Launch is an additional service that Solutions offers, focusing on moving adult children into a life of financial and emotional independence. Relying heavily on timelines and accountability, we advise family members on how to be successful, which will prevent years of needless frustration and resentment, while equipping everyone with the tools necessary for a successful transition.
The ability for a loved one to be independent is sometimes a side effect of necessity. We can’t control what our loved one does with their life; however, we can control how much we prevent them from making it on their own through enabling. The Failure to Launch program addresses the restraint and control we hold over our loved ones, ultimately preventing them from being able to have the freedom to make their own choices.
This program teaches families how to “cut the cord” and allow their loved one to figure it out on their own, make some mistakes, and build their own life. We can show you how to give the beautiful gift of independence; it can change the whole course of your loved one’s life.
